Whoa… April certainly has arrived with chaotic weather streams everywhere it seems! Nothing like April showers (and/or snow for some) to bring May flowers! So, I decided to focus this month’s theme on flowers, and particularly, the early blooming lovely fragrant peony! (Which I so miss having in my garden because of the hot dry California growing zone we live in.)
Before I start, I wanted to remind everyone that we do giveaways each month from our personal stash. We are not sponsored by Unity but have their full support! To qualify, all you need to do is add your comments to the blogs in the hop. This month, I will be doing a giveaway!! I’ll announce the winner of it in next month’s hop, so be sure to stop back in May! Please, please, please add your name to your comment below if participating! Otherwise, you show up as Anonymous and I have no clue who you are!
I decided to use the kit on the first card as embellishments to the beautiful paper I focused on. The conservatory scene sure seemed to embody my vision of Mother’s Day cards and my memories of our mothers. I LOVE visiting conservatories and have, in the past, with both of our mothers.
I paper pieced the heart stamp using paper from the pad and stamped the butterfly and sentiment with complimentary colors on papers from the pad. I just added a couple ribbons to complete the card. The sentiments in this kit are just so lovely, that I used them on both the inside and outside of both of the cards I created this month! I also added a leftover paper scrap to the inside of this card.
For the second card, I stamped the image using a new to me ink, Hero Arts Contour ink, on watercolor paper. It leaves a faint impression that I can paint and I’m undecided if I like it or not. Here’s what it looks like!
I used my watercolors and tried to match the colors in the paper and fussy cut it out when done. To pull this card together, I again used more papers from the pad and backed them with brown paper. I stamped the sentiment with a couple of inks to coordinate with the papers and I used a pink card base on this one. For embellishments, I just added a brown twine bow. I fussy cut some flowers from the papers to add to the inside of the card.
Remember to add your comment with your name below to be eligible to win a kit from me and check back next month to see if you won it!
