{BYSHC} Spring into Christmas Linky Party - Card 2

Ready for card 2 of the Spring into Christmas Linky Party sponsored by the {BYSHC} Facebook group!

Decided to pair navy leftover papers from a pretty Love From Lizi Christmas bundle with an ephemera pack from Blue Fern Studios called Yuletide. I fussy cut out the sled to use as the focal point. I then pulled together and cut down the paper scraps and formed my own “sketch” for this card. I used a ribbon from the bundle to divide the background. Included in the Lizi pack was a sheet of snowy acetate. I cut that down to cover the top background paper (the pinecones).

After pulling the bottom layer, together I die cut 2 circles of different plain paper and added penned in snow spots on the top. I added white sparkly thread and pulled the card together. I also had sticky detailed snowflakes that I added around the card for embellishment. Think those served to mute the background for the sled to stand out more. Finally, I die cut 3 layers of the sentiment using a Spellbinders set.

I like that this one turned into a more masculine card, given the colors. I can always use those!

{BYSHC} Spring into Christmas Linky Party

Hello, welcome to my first entry in the Spring into Christmas {BYSHC} Linky Party! You’ll find rules for playing, the list of sponsors and giveaways, and the entry link here! Also, check out the inspiration provided by design team members for getting those holiday ideas flowing!

For this holiday card, I used an older Brutus Monroe kit called Poinsettia Joy! I stamped the image onto Arches watercolor paper using Antique Linen oxide ink and painted it with my Schmincke watercolors. I used greens and blues, just because… ;)!  I then searched for matching holiday papers to back it and found a My Mind’s Eye collection called Sugar Plum.

I stamped the sentiment using green and blue inks from Gina K and clear embossed it. I added spritzes of watercolor, white gouache, and gold Perfect Pearls. I used stick gold trim strips on the side of the paper, and added ribbon and gold crystals to complete the card.

Hope you enjoyed this one… now… your turn! Join in the fun and link up some pretty holiday cards!

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 32 - Authentique paper + Brutus Monroe sentiment

Had fun creating this little card. Found an old ephemera set with burlap images that paired perfectly with a very old Authentique paper pad. Even though the style is out of fashion, I think the background paper is adorable. Use of pretty paper really makes Sketch Challenge 32 a winner.

After cutting down the various pieces, I adhered everything and added a Brutus Monroe embossed sentiment and red crystals. I used a red card base to make it all pop.

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge 32 - Brutus Monroe Holiday Essentials

Welp, it’s another month, and, so, another Sketch Challenge - Sketch Challenge 32! Here it is:

For the challenge this month, I wanted to use cute paper from Photoplay called Mad 4 Plaid Christmas. I found a perfect Brutus Monroe stamp kit in my collection that matched called Holiday Essentials. I stamped the image on sketch paper using InkOn3 Fadeout No Line ink. I then used my Prismacolor pencils and matched colors to the paper collection images.

Pretty easy to pull this card together! I embossed the sentiment, attached it and added enamel dots! This sketch certainly makes for very cute cards!

Unity SMAK Tag

Watched an Isa C Art video and was inspired to make a tag with this background technique. Pretty easy to do…, first, find the colors of Oxide inks you want to use, in my case, Aged Mahogany and Weathered Wood. Then wipe using the edges of the ink pads, down the tag in a vertical motion, leaving streaky lines with the tag color showing through.

I then used the same ink pads to stamp the clock/bird image and background stamps from Unity’s August 2018 SMAK kit. I clear embossed the wing/clock image from Unity’s August 2020 SMAK kit on another sheet using a brown ink. I used watercolors, and silver Perfect Pearls to add color and shine to the image.

I pulled out an older Ciao Bella paper collection and fussy cut images to match the theme of the card. I lightly added Aged Mahogany to the images to make them blend in with the tag colors. I found almost perfectly colored matching corrugated paper I could use, but again, scraped the pads on the paper to make colors blend together.

I found the perfect sentiment in the Paper Artsy Friends and Friendship stamp set and used a combo of the brown and Aged Mahogany to stamp it. I fussy cut it out and inked the ashes of all the fussy cut pieces.

Before pulling the tag together, I added white paste using a TCW stencil, added a little color and shading to the bird image, and inked the edges of the tag. I found matching ribbons and completed the tag.

I love how this tag turned out… with a bit of a soft vintage feel. Even though the SMAK kits are no longer available, still love many of the images!
