Ballet Slippers Birthday Card

My daughter-in-law’s birthday is today and to celebrate I created a card using Stamperia’s Passion paper and Collectibles, Deep Red’s Ballet Slippers and a Unity Die Cut set, Chic Script Salutations. I just love beautiful patterned paper and I always challenge myself to create a matching stamped image.

For this card I used die cut 2 papers to layer. I stamped and watercolored and th3n penciled over the ballet slipper image. I fussy cut it and added gold metallic pen. I also fussy cut some flowers and fussy cut a ballet outfit for inside and outside the card. I used 2 different ribbons and a white/gold twine on the card. And I added crystals and a gold metal embellishment.

I used a different patterned paper which happened to have gold trim on it to highlight the sentiment. I also used the Stamperia paper and another scrap paper to die cut the sentiment. To back the sentiment pieces, I also die cut the sentiment in gold paper.

Think this one turned out pretty and pays homage to her childhood love of ballet classes. Hope she enjoys it! That’s it for today…now onto a party! Take care and happy crafting!

March ATC’s

So, I’ve started back creating Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) with a much smaller group. I have always found this to be a fun diversion and opportunity to play. Plus I love receiving them in return. We’ve changed the rules to be anything goes… can use any stamp company or even no stamps. I like the freedom this gives me to explore other options. However, to get back in the groove of creating these, I’ve again turned to Unity.

The top set was created with March heralding women and women's history. In reducing my paper horde I came across a 12x12 black and white patterned sheet with 9 different patterns. I used several of these as the card base. I then stamped the woman from Unity’s (must be retired) Rebuild Herself Kit several times. I used a charcoal pencil for shading and cut them out. I added a white circle and red crystals. For the sentiment I fussy cut out REAL WOMEN from one of the sentiments and the other words from other kits. And, yes, real woman are extraordinary!

The second was in recognition of the horrific war being played out this month. I used Paper Artsy Lemoncillo Infusion powder for the background paper and some distress inks. I then stamped the vase from Hello Gorgeous and watercolored it loosely using blues and yellows and added pen outlines. I fussy cut those out, added blue Washi tape and sequins. For the sentiment from the No Apologies kit, I  embossed it on vellum and attached it to the card. My message for those struggling and the people of Ukraine!

Hope you enjoyed these! Thanks for stopping by!

Friends of Unity April Blog Hop

Hello Spring … and fellow Unies! Welcome to our April Blog Hop. This month our focus is a favorite of mine… Patterned Paper! Enjoy the hop!

Before I start, I wanted to congratulate Becca Yarhling for winning a Unity stamp set for participating in last month’s blog hop! Please message me your address and I’ll get out your package in the next week or so! Thanks for hopping with us last month!

So, to start off, I just had to use a leftover piece of “That” famous beautiful patterned paper we all picked up over a year ago. I had picked it up and sent out small pieces of it to my old ATC group for fun. Well… I found a leftover piece I never used while cleaning out my supplies. For this card I paired it with Unity’s You Grow Girl kit. I stamped and watercolored one of the plants in similar tones and found som leftover striped papers that matched beautifully. To complete the card, I added string and sequins.

For the second card, I used a metallic gold patterned paper and combined it with Unity’s A Lovely Message kit. I embossed both the image and sentiment and then watercolored the image with similar colors. I also added metallic gold paint to the sign.  To complete this card, I added gold thread and and gold colored crystals.

Hope you enjoyed this use of patterned paper and that it inspires you to pull yours out! Thanks for stopping by! Now on to the rest of the hop…
