Friends of Unity May Blog Hop

Welcome back to another hop. There are so many stamp options for our theme this month…

But I stuck with the beautiful Forest Butterfly kit for my cards. Finally got around to creating some cards the last few days, as, I must admit, it’s been a busy month again - my master bedroom and bathroom had major renovations! The only major thing left…painting will be done in June! And my husband finally retired from a long career, so I’ve been busy with him, enjoying our grandchild, decluttering the house, and gardening. So, crafting has taken a backseat as we settle into a new rhythm of life.

This month, I, along with others, will be giving away a new stamp set from my stash. I will pick and announce a winner next month from the comments received on this post. So be sure to provide feedback on the cards or the kit before you leave my post!

For the first card, I matched colors on a paper from a Somerset Studio magazine to watercolor the butterflies from the kit. To add a sparkling effect, I used some Brea Reese Metallic inks over the top. I fussy cut them out and used some Tim Holtz papers for added trim. I white embossed the sentiment, added coordinating sequins and twine, and called this one done.

For the second card, I used Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink with a stencil to create a background for the butterfly. I then used a combo of blue and yellow inks to add colors to the butterfly. I then fussy cut the butterfly out. Finally, I used Chic Script Salutations with white and colored paper to create the sentiment on this one. I added large crystals and declared this one done.

Hope these cards provide some simple ideas and inspiration for you to use on your cards! Till next time happy crafting!

  5. Your cards are beautiful and love how you made two cards with the same image and they look completely different! My favorite is the first as the red-orange and yellow glows so brilliantly against the stony blue. Wow! I love the splatters too! The second card is light and pretty. The large sentiment is happy and light-hearted with the beautifully colored butterfly!

  11. I hope your hubby will enjoy his retirement! My hubby & I highly recommend it! lol And of course, we both have hobbies & I think that's a must! Your cards are just beautiful. I love the gorgeous color combo on the first card - not all orange & blues mesh well, but when they do, it's one of my fave combos. And the daisy BG is pretty with the equally pretty butterfly. tfs!
