Friends of Unity June Blog Hop

Welcome back to another blog hop by my crafty friends in the Friends of Unity group! This month our theme is:

As you may already know, individual members periodically give away Unity kits to folks who commented on their blogs. This month, I’m honoring

Carol

… for her contributions. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog last month. Be sure to PM me your address and I’ll be sending out a package to you shortly!

My first card was based on the Love You to Pieces Kit. This was a pretty simple card to make and I tried to keep colors muted to appear more masculine. I used glitter inks to give the pieces a little shine.

For the second card, I pulled out a couple of old SMAK kits, Radiate Joy (5/2020) for the sentiment and The Ocean is Calling (1/2018). I started this one by white embossing the lighthouse on brown cardstock. I then white embossed the fishnet pattern all over a greenish patterned paper for the background.

I added gold crayon and Posca pen markings for the lantern light rays and applied some circles and shading to the rocks and spray at the bottom. I then used yellow Stickles to add some glitter to both areas. I found a paper button and beads I thought would match for embellishments. I also added coordinating sequins. Using a Seth Apter powder, I embossed the sentiment on a strip of the same patterned paper I used for the base.

Hope these gave you some new ideas to try! Now onto the rest of the hop! You may have arrived here from:

  1. The missing piece card is a beautiful muted masculine palette. This is another set I have never seen. The sentiment is such a sweet one too! The lighthouse card is gorgeous embossed in white on a dark, rich backdrop. I love the shell embellishments and the button that has beacons of light on it!
