Hello, crafty friends - I’m back again for another Friends of Unity (FOU) blog hop. This month’s FOU theme is one of the hardest card types for me, a CAS card (clean and simple card). However, because all of my craft supplies are jumbled together in a huge pile awaiting the completion of my new crafting space, I lucked out! I could create a few cards with minimal effort and few tools by pulling out odds and ends that happened to be on top of the pile! Yay!
Wanted to remind you that personal giveaways are always offered as part of our hops! This month, I’m offering one! Be sure to leave a comment… on the cards, the hop or even your challenge with CAS cards, for a chance at the giveaway. I’ll be posting the winner in February’s hop!
The first 2 cards were created with a recently purchased paper pad from Studio Light, titled, Lovely Moments. I used Unity’s donna downey flower from the Imperfection is Beauty kit and “paper pieced” it to create a couple of simple cards. The flowers contain both glued and raised petals to create an interesting texture to the flowers. I used several Unity background stamps and light pink and green distress inks and a Gina K Kraft ink to add texture behind the flowers. I then used paper from the pad for the sentiments and added both clear ribbons and enamel dots to complete the cards.
The third card was created using the flower from the Wishing You Joy kit and the sentiment from the Rosey Thoughts kit. I stamped the flower on both the plain white paper and a mixed media pad I found! I found my watercolors and painted the flower parts to match the blue paper I found. Before adding the fussy cut flower pieces, I added paint spatter in red and blue. I then used foam tape to add the flower parts and used Washi tapes to emphasize the sentiment, and enamel dots to complete the card.
Overall, given my lack of skills at CAS cards, and a little handicapped with lack of both my Big Shot and stamping platform, I think these turned out pretty okay. Thanks for stopping by… don’t forget to leave a comment and check out the rest of the hop!
